Glenn Beavis' 1929 Oakland

Yes, new member here, having stumbled across this 29 business(?) coupe.  I know little about except that the prior owner had wanted to buy it from his friend who had it stashed away unattended for 24 years.  When his friend passed away, the car became available but he had turned his interest to other projects and no longer wanted it.  He bought it from his friend’s son, more out of obligation than interest.   He immediately posted it on Facebook Marketplace and I was lucky enough to be the first serious buyer.

Somewhere prior to those years the car was in a barn fire.  There is evidence of that in several places on the car and what was stored inside.  That said all of the wood, except perhaps the roof stringers(?) are slightly charred on the top side.  I don’t know if the paint was removed before or after the fire, or if this is the reason it was removed.  There is very little rust on the sheetmetal, and the car is about 95% complete. I have not yet inspected the powertrain, but everything appears to be in place.  Finally, I am suspicious that this car may have been restored somewhere along the way.  I’m wondering if it was ever registered at OOCI by a prior owner whi has since left the club.   I have not yet found the chassis number, but the engine number can be seen in an attached photo.  Looking at some club documents on the OOCI website, the numbers don’t appear to be correct for this car.  I’d also be interested to know if anyone has any insight into this.

Looking forward to meeting club members, and hoping there at least some folks out there that are interested in talking tech on these old pieces of history.
